When my husband and I first opened the box, we were taken aback a little at the strong scent. I was a little worried, but then pleasantly surprised as the scent dissipated quickly when installed in my toilet, leaving behind a light clean smell that is actually quite pleasant and not overwhelming as it was in the package. The little plastic cage keeps the product securely in place and allows water to flow over and around it, activating the cleaner with each flush plus it leaves cleaning bubbles in the toilet after each flush so you know it is working!
