Dorot and Pop & Cook Frozen Herbs Review and Giveaway (Three Winners)

The featured product was provided free of charge to facilitate my review, but all opinions are 100% the opinion of the Coupon Savvy Sarah family.”

We love cooking in our house - I personally think my husband is the better cook out of the two of us but we each have our specialties! We try and bring Rose into the mix when we are preparing meals so we can teach about about cooking and baking plus we find she is more likely to eat a meal she has helped prepare, then not.

That being said - I love to look to cooking magazines for inspiration and one day while scouring my recent Taste of Home magazine, I came across an ingenious idea - Dorot and Pop & Cook frozen herbs! Minced herbs in perfect portions already frozen and ready to use! Dorot and Pop & Cook sent us out a cooler full of their herbs to try out in our kitchen and we were so excited to try them out!

We received frozen minced garlic, basil, cilantro, ginger, chili and parsley in both brands. Dorot is sold in a lot of major grocery chains (Store locator here) and the Pop & Cook brand is exclusively sold at Walmart stores (Store locator here).

We tried several recipes with our large assortment of herbs. The first one was Grilled Pork Chops with Cilantro, Lime and Garlic. Normally for this recipe we would have to go to the store for fresh cilantro but I was excited to try the frozen minced cilantro and see how it worked with this recipe. The frozen minced cilantro and garlic was delicious as far as their flavoring goes and it was easy to incorporate them into the sauce we put on the chops. I missed the large chunks of cilantro that we are used to in this recipe but the flavor was just the same - delicious! It was a time saver and a money saver!

We also tried out the chili, parsley and garlic in the Angel Hair Pasta With Artichokes and Mustard Sauce dish I made! Again - it was a huge time saver and a money saver. No wasted herbs and the flavor is amazing! We are currently on the prowl for a recipe to try our crushed ginger frozen cubes with!

With all the time we spend in the kitchen, the Dorot and Pop & Cook frozen herbs have now found a permanent home in our freezers! I know I haven't replaced using all fresh herbs in my cooking but for during the winter months when our garden isn't blooming and we don't feel like running to the store for some fresh herbs - these frozen cubes of herbs will be a recipe-saver for us!

Check out Dorot's website for all their amazing products - they go way beyond frozen herbs and spices! I cannot wait to find more of their products at my local store! Their website also has some delicious recipes as well so make sure to check them out! Also make sure to "like" Dorot and Pop&Cook on Facebook to stay up to date on all the latest news and recipes!

  1. These are too cool! I love to cook with parsley and basil but the ginger has me intrigued! There are a couple of recipes I could use that in that I use powdered ginger in currently. One of them is Funky Chicken and Sesame Noodles, one of my favorite recipes. :) The garlic and sauteed onions would be a time saver, too!

  2. Everything. lol. I love spices in everything. Two of my secret spices that I put in a lot of dishes are paprika and curry powder. My favorite herb is basil :)

  8. The cilantro completely loses it's pungency and tastes like nothing. I have not tried the others.
