Michigan Made: Among Friends Baking Mixes Review and Giveaway

The featured product was provided free of charge to facilitate my review, but all opinions are 100% the opinion of the Coupon Savvy Sarah family.”
We love to support local Michigan-made companies and I was very excited to find Among Friends Baking Mixes on Facebook! Healthy, wholesome treats that my whole family can enjoy? Yes please!

Here is a little background on Among Friends:
"Among Friends, LLC, is the creation of two friends, Suzie Miller and Lizann Anderson. Like many such ventures, it began over a cup of coffee (and involved a cookie, of course). Among Friends mixes reflect our desire to share our baked goods with other discriminating palates. Our goal is simple: we want to help people fill their kitchens with fresh-from-the-oven baked goods made from the best ingredients. Our mixes make baking easy for people on those days when treats from scratch are impractical or well nigh impossible. We all have those days. Our name tells it all. Each of our baking mixes is handcrafted for friends and named for someone we love, a friend or family member."

Right off the bat, I love the fact that Among Friends strives to put together these mixes with whole grains and a lot of their mixes are gluten-free which is awesome because I have lots of family and friends that eat gluten-free and I am able to take these treats for them to enjoy!

I received Suzie Q's Cookie Mix and Trish the Dish Crisp Mix: both of the packages clearly tell you what is needed to make the dessert with little pictures that are perfect for when your children are helping you bake (like my Rose was)!

We made the Crisp Mix first with canned cherries - the only change we made was to use a smaller pan since it was being made just for my household (I froze half of the crisp mix for a later use). The crisp turned out wonderful. The topping was a perfect mix of oatmeal and buttery, "crispy" goodness.

Next up, we made the Suzie Q's cookies; they are a moist chewy cookie loaded with flax and whole grains and studded with premium chocolate. These reminded me of an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie with the flax and whole grains. Both the cookies and crisp mix were outstanding!

Among Friends mixes are available in select Michigan retailers - see Store locator here, plus you can order their mixes online if you are out of state and want to try these delicious and wholesome treats! Among Friends Baking Mixes currently offer six different mixes - all named for family and friends that they crafted them for!
