The NEW SodaStream Source Review

Did you know that SodaStream saves the average home 550 plastic bottles a year? WOW - that is a lot of plastic that stays out of the landfills!

SodaStream is an "Active Green" product, meaning that consumers are actively reducing their CO2 footprint every time they make soda or sparkling water at home instead of buying it from the store. The more the system is used on a daily basis, the more CO2 footprint the user actively saves. Because SodaStream uses water straight from the tap, the system makes traditional store-bought beverage bottles obsolete.


SodaStream sent us out their newest machine, The SodaStream Source, to review. The Source was designed by Yves Béhar, who is a designer and sustainability advocate. 

My in-laws have an older model SodaStream so I am familiar with how the machine is supposed to work. Our SodaStream Source came in white and was a snap (literally) to assemble with the snap on bottle and the carbonation tank in the back. On the Source I love the LED display which shows you the three different levels of carbonation that you can add to your water and it is very easy to see what level you are at versus the older machine my in laws have. It was so easy to read even my daughter and her cousins were able to use the machine and add the perfect amount of carbonation!

I love how easy it is to mix the syrups in the plastic bottle and the assortment of flavors they now have are outstanding (even non-alcoholic cocktail flavors)....there is literally something for everyone! The beverages taste the same to me as their "name-brand" counterparts and my daughter, niece and nephews had a blast trying out all the different flavors - including Kool-Aid and Country Time Lemonade!

My only concern is that the plastic bottle is not dishwasher safe and you have to hand wash it every time you use it. I would love to see a dishwasher safe bottle - it would be so much more convenient.
