Product Review: Ozeri Green Earth Ceramic Pan featuring GREBLON #HGG14

My husband and I have been looking at cookware recently since our current cookware is showing major signs of wear including the non-stick coating wearing off. I threw a couple pans away already with missing coating because I was concerned about potential harmful chemicals coming in contact with our food.

While researching cookware, we came across The Green Earth Pan from Ozeri which features GREBLON, an ultra-safe ceramic coating derived from nature. The Green Earth Pan is 100% PTFE (also known as Teflon) and PFOA free. It delivers non-stick performance without releasing harmful fumes or toxins at high temperatures.

Upon opening the box, I noticed the pan felt and looks quite durable. It is made of heavy gauge die-cast aluminum in addition to a heat-resistant silicon coated handle. The natural ceramic coating is thicker and supposed to be more scratch resistant than other non-stick coated pans. The anodized aluminum in the pan creates more even heating which prevents hot-spots.

Upon testing out the pan cooking chicken - we used a little oil as recommended (It states that too much butter or oil can cause buildup in the pan which can cause foods to stick. Nonstick cooking spray is not recommended as it can break down the nonstick coating). I didn't notice a difference in cooking times with this pan versus my other smooth surface pans. The pan cleans easily which is good considering the textured grooves concerned me that we would need to give it a good scrub if food got stuck in them - thankfully that isn't the case.

I would recommend this pan - especially if you are eco-conscious and want to know you are using safe cookware. The Green Earth Pan from Ozeri comes in 8, 10 and 12 inches - we reviewed the 12" pan. You can purchase these pans and lids separately at Home Depot, Sears and the online retailer Amazon.

  3. I had switched to stainless steel because of teflon, but it's kind of a pain to cook on stainless steel and keep items from sticking. I may try one of these pans.
