Chicken Soup for the Soul & Zaycon Foods - A Delicious Partnership (Giveaway Ends 4/27)

Chicken Soup for the Soul and Zaycon Foods provided me with complimentary products. The opinions I have expressed are my own.”

We had the pleasure of working with Zaycon Foods (now Zaycon Fresh) over a year ago on a review of their chicken so I naturally jumped at the chance to work with them again because we really enjoyed their products!

Zaycon Fresh has made dinner ever easier by partnering up with Chicken Soup for the Soul. Chicken Soup for the Soul now offers a whole line of comfort foods created by Chef John Doherty, former Executive Chef at the Waldorf Astoria. From broths, meal builder and barbecue sauces to pasta sauces, Chicken Soul for the Soul has you covered to provide you with wholesome, fresh foods for dinner without the hectic trip to the grocery store!

I am always on the hunt for a quick weeknight meal, preferably one that can be made in advance, due to our busy schedule. Upon picking up our 40 pounds of Zaycon chicken, I immediately froze two-thirds of the chicken breasts (which are the size of turkey breasts) and put the rest in my crockpot to make shredded chicken to be used in a multitude of different recipes such as two different chicken dips for Easter plus my yummy chicken fajita soup and the super-easy barbeque chicken sliders for a fast weeknight dinner before karate classes.

I took 7 large chicken breasts and cut them in half after trimming the fat from them and placed them in my crockpot. I sprinkled them with garlic salt, paper and pour a can of beer over them (your choice of beer). I set the temperature on low and cooked the chicken for 8-10 hours. Once the chicken was done, I pulled a few chunks out at a time and let my daughter Rose take two forks to shred the chicken into pieces. This task was very easy since the chicken was very tender and easy to pull apart.

I yielded two storage containers (each with an eight cup capacity) full of shredded chicken. With that, I prepared two savory chicken spreads/dips for Easter, in addition to my family's favorite chicken fajita soup and by request - Barbeque Chicken Sliders! We took the shredded chicken and heated it with our Chicken Soup for the Soul Honey Barbeque sauce and served it over sliders rolls for our fast weeknight dinner. It was delicious and so easy to prepare.

Chicken Soup for the Soul books have been a favorite of mine for years! I was so excited to find out months ago that they partnered up with Zaycon Fresh. Right now Zaycon Fresh has chicken breasts for only $1.69 per pound, which is better than prices at the grocery store! I liked being able to swing by a convenient location to pop my trunk, load an environmentally-friendly Tetra Pak filled with chicken and head home - no check out lines to wait through with my daughter in tow.

In addition to the new line of delicious Chicken Soup for the Soul products, Zaycon Fresh offers many different meats from pork (bacon - Yum), turkey, beef and more, well below competitor's pricing - all throughout the year. Make sure to check out their website for deals in your area on your favorite products. Don't forget to sign up for Chicken Soup for the Soul's Daily Newsletter as well - touching and inspiring stories daily!
