The featured product was provided free of charge to facilitate my review, but all opinions are 100% the opinion of the Coupon Savvy Sarah family.”

Based on the global bestselling novel by J.K. Rowling, the HBO and BBC co-production THE CASUAL VACANCY is a three-part mini-series produced by Brontë Film and Television, written by Sarah Phelps (Eastenders, Great Expectations) and directed by Jonny Campbell (Doctor Who, Shameless).

The mini-series centers on Pagford, a seemingly idyllic English village with a cobbled market square and ancient abbey. Behind the pretty façade, however, is a town at war. The rich at war with the poor, children at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils.

Don’t miss your chance to own this gripping new drama as THE CASUAL VACANCY comes to Blu-ray and DVD on August 4, 2015. This mini-series will also be available on Digital HD on August 4, 2015. You will be able to purchase it at most major retailers nationwide and also online at Amazon.

SPECIAL FEATURES include:
  • An Introduction to The Casual Vacancy
  • Adapting The Casual Vacancy
  • Casting The Casual Vacancy

Our Thoughts:

I love J.K. Rowling. I have not read this book though so I cannot compare the book to the movie adaptation (although I intend to borrow it from my father now). I found this three-part mini-series very interesting with the town's various inhabitants and class warfare that seems to be abounding while they all decide what to do with the town's community center. I really enjoyed it and I am looking forward to reading the book to see how they compare!
