Making a Difference this Back to School Year with the Giving BackPacks Campaign #GivingBackPacks

The featured products were provided free of charge to facilitate this post and subsequent donations to our local community, but all opinions are 100% the opinion of the Coupon Savvy Sarah family.

My family and I are firm believers in helping others out. We regularly donate items to our local shelters and organizations that help those in our community. Our 12 year old daughter Rose has been donating all the toys from her birthday parties to our local Toys for Tots organization for the past 6 years because she didn't want other children to go without gifts for the holidays (so proud of her).

Last year we participated in the Giving BackPacks Campaign and filled 4 backpacks to the brim with snacks, school supplies and other items kids need when heading back to school. With the help of a community leader I was able to find a family of 4 elementary age children to donate the backpacks too - you can read all about last's years experience here

We are very proud to be a part of the campaign again this year to help out more families that might be struggling and need a helping hand. Here is a link to a little more information about the Giving BackPacks campaign.

We have some awesome sponsors to thank for helping us out this year: Wonderful Pistachios, Fiji Water and Wonderful Almonds. They provided us with a backpack, a box each of almond and pistachio snack packs, bottles of water and a $25 gift card to to help us stuff a backpack full of school supplies for a child in need.

Check out more information about our generous sponsors for this campaign:
  • Wonderful Almonds – Almonds make for a delicious and healthy snack option. Plus they are full of Vitamin E and fiber! The new packaging lets you simply tear off a corner and enjoy on the go! My husband and I are HUGE fans of these convenient packages - perfect for karate tournaments, post-workout snack and more!
  • Fiji Water – Refreshing water straight from Fiji with a compact size that fits perfectly in those side pockets of the backpacks or in your child's lunch box. It’s a great way to keep hydrated and avoid unhealthier beverages such as pop or too much coffee at extracurricular activities and family events.
  • Wonderful Pistachios – These now come in flavors like Roasted & Salted, Sweet Chili and Salt & Pepper (Ahh-amazing!). These are always fun for the kids because they can crack the shells themselves and they taste delicious in addition to being a nutritious snack.

We want to give a huge thank you to two additional sponsors that Coupon Savvy Sarah has had the pleasure of working with before on product reviews that happily jumped on board to send us out items to include in these backpacks. Thank you to Brownie Brittle snacks for the large box of snack sized bags of your delicious treats to add to the bags for a nice chocolate-y dessert for the kids and Thank you to Blum School Gear for sending us 4 of their unique all-inclusive School Gear Kits for grades K-4.

Here at Coupon Savvy Sarah though - we can't stop at just one back pack! We stuffed 4 backpacks (The 3 we bought that you see in the picture above, plus the one that was donated to us) again this year with school supply essentials and snacks for 4 deserving children! Below you will see one of the backpacks and all the supplies that we stuffed in just ONE (yes, just one) of the backpacks! Monday we are dropping the backpacks off to our local karate studio where Rose and Markus attend. The owner is a retired police officer and large community influencer through various organizations. He is helping me get these backpacks into 4 young students hands before Michigan schools start back after Labor Day!

School supplies are on sale everywhere! Please consider picking up and filling a backpack to drop off at a local school for a child in need, or even grab extra school supplies on sale and drop them off as well. Being the wife of a Teacher and Principal of a Middle/High School - I know how much the schools appreciate all the help from their local communities!

  2. So many kids go without things these days. I had a rough life growing up and while I may not have had the pretty princess lunchbox I always had the supplies I needed to start school. It breaks my heart when kids come to our school or church and don't have the necessities or even the shoes to wear. Good on you for help of giving back! You will be repaid tenfold someday!

  5. ...so cool to include snacks, something some kids don't get at home. I lurve Brownie Brittle... and would definitely enjoy the almonds and pistachios... will have to look for this brand in the store. Local schools allow kids to keep a water bottle at their desks... and this smaller size is perfect for the little ones.

Great job, Sarah... I know your efforts will be appreciated!
