Michigan Renaissance Festival - Opens next weekend (August 22 & 23) #MichRenFest

Complimentary tickets were provided free of charge in exchange for promoting this event. All opinions are 100% the opinion of the Coupon Savvy Sarah family

Mark your calendars! Michigan's popular attraction - the Michigan Renaissance Festival - is opening soon for your merriment! Next weekend is opening weekend and the theme is Royal Pet & Ale Fest (8/22-23). You can get your discounted tickets at Kroger, Walgreens, Menards and more!

More about the Michigan Renaissance Festival:

Take a time-travel adventure into the 16th century at the 37th annual Michigan Renaissance Festival! Join our Queen Elizabeth in a jubilee! Inside our turreted gates, visitors enjoy the sights and sounds of a 17-acre village, complete with building reproductions of Renaissance shops, taverns and a magnificent castle. Continuous entertainment takes place on the streets and on 17 themed stages; featuring full-contact armored jousting, comedy and theater shows, music, games, people-powered rides and so much more! Fabulous food and more than 300 artisans displaying their gallery-quality works complete the experience!

We have been attending the Renaissance Festival for over 20 years and they are always adding new foods, vendors, shows and attractions to the event. Some of the popular event attractions are Feast of Fantasy, Renaissance Romance, King's Happy Hour, Pub Crawl, Once Upon a Tea Time, Pig 'N Swig (gourmet bacon and beer tasting - can't wait to attend this) and even a special Ladies Shopping Day.

During the show my husband (seated - far right) was pulled in to participate

The two Halloween events that were so popular last year are back again this year in October - Horton Lake Outbreak and Phantom's Feast. We attended the Phantom's Feast last year and had so much fun. It is geared more toward adults and the food and entertainment was fantastic!

The 37th annual Michigan Renaissance Festival takes place during the following weekends, including Labor Day (9/7) and Friday (10/2), in 2015: August 22-October 4, 2015. The village gates open at 10 a.m., officiated by the shire's beloved Queen, and close at 7 p.m (Rain or Shine!). With so much to see and do, Festival guests are encouraged to arrive early each day. FREE PARKING is a bonus!

This year's weekend themes include:

Royal Pet & Ale Fest - 8/22 & 8/23
Highland Fling - 8/29-8/30
High Seas Adventure - 9/5, 9/6 & 9/7
Wonders of the World - 9/12-9/13
Shamrocks & Shenanigans - 9/19-9/20
Harvest Huzzah - 9/26-9/27
Festival Friday - 10/2
Sweet Endings - 10/3-10/4
