4 Signs You Need a Dehumidifier - Check out Honeywell Dehumidifiers

It is very important to maintain a proper humidity level in your home for both health and household reasons. Too little humidity can cause some discomfort issues such as static electricity, chapped lips as well as cracks in certain types of furniture and excessive moisture can make your home a breeding ground for mold and mildew, which can lead to some very serious health issues. My husband has allergies to mold and asthma so during certain times of the year - he can't even go into the basement due to our issues with too much moisture!

Some homes may have moisture problems only at certain times of the year, such as in Spring when there is a lot of ground water running off, while other homes need help to control moisture levels year round. Some homes just have one room or area of the residence that is affected by moisture and this should not be neglected, no matter how small the room is because it can lead to further issues. Thankfully a dehumidifier can help you remedy excess moisture problems.

Top 4 Signs You Need a Dehumidifier:
  1. Condensation on your windows and doors.
  2. Musty odor or smell.
  3. Mold spots on the corners of your walls or on the ceiling.
  4. Damp areas in your basement due to water run-off in the Spring.

In our house, we experience all these issues so we were sent a 70-Pint Dehumidifier from Honeywell to review. The number of pints refers to how many pints of moisture, or water, the unit will remove within a 24 hour period.

Here is a little more information about our Honeywell Dehumidifier:

Our Thoughts:

We have been in our house for over 16 years now and the previous owners failed to tell us about issues they had with moisture in the basement. Over the years we have had water coming in through the water during heavy rains and during the Spring when it rains and the ground isn't fulled thawed. This has contributed to a mildew smell on humid days in the Summer and some mold issues on our walls. We have tried two other brands of dehumidifiers over the years and haven't had a lot of luck with them lasting long - one of them stopped working within 30 days and flooded an area of our basement and the brand didn't want to stand behind it's warranty. I had given up hope until we got our Honeywell. I asked around for recommendations on specific brands and Honeywell came highly recommended which is why I reached out to them about a review. We received our unit mid September and hooked it up immediately since we were experiencing wet and humid weather. In the past 6 weeks we have noticed the mildew odor is gone from the basement and my husband can go back down there again (which means he has to help with the laundry more). The dehumidifier is easy to empty. It has wheels the unit which makes it easy to move to different areas in the basement. I love that the air filter is washable which means no additional costs in having to purchase replacements as it gets dirty or filled. Honeywell's 5 year limited warranty lets me know that they stand behind their products as well! I would definitely recommend this product to anyone in our situation and is in need of a dehumidifier. After such a positive experience with this unit, I am actually curious to try out some of their other products in the future - I know our window air conditioning units are older and in need of replacing next summer!

Honeywell has a large line of products including fans, heaters, A/C units, safes, shredders, thermostats and more - check out their website for more information! Honeywell products are available to purchase directly from their website in addition to major retailers nationwide, plus online at Amazon.

  3. We don't have a basement here, but it's super humid and I think we need one. It can sometimes smell a bit musty and our windows get condensation because of it. This looks like a size that would fit in our home too.

  5. OMGahhh, how ironic, we JUST bought a Honeywell dehumidifier 2 months ago, not knowing how badly we'd be in need after our state AND area was submerged in flood waters, South Carolina.
But....to back up, we live in a home we built 5yrs ago, if you know anything about living in a suburb of Columbia, SC we dread the heat pumps to run on the "cold" mornings because everyone wakes up with bloody noses. Anyway, i couldn't believe we needed a humidifier this year as we hadn't had much rain but I started feeling dampness on our 1st floor & our air didn't seem as fresh, even after changing our filters monthly & running a couple air purifiers.
I went online & immediately started checking out Honeywell products because that's what 2 of our purifiers are (we have asthmatic daughters) ......needless to say i COMPLETELY understand & agree with your move to contact Honeywell. I would be surprised to find out you'd anything but love the job yours does as we've been enjoying a much cleaner, 'normal' environment again. 3 cheers for companies who've been around & are still producing quality products.
