Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Old School by Jeff Kinney - Book Review + #Giveaway Ends 12/15

“The featured product was provided free of charge to facilitate my review, but all opinions are 100% the opinion of the Coupon Savvy Sarah family.”

Rose loves to read and not only that, she is a huge Diary of a Wimpy Kid fan. She has all nine of the previous books written by Jeff Kinney and was anxiously waiting for book #10 to arrive on bookshelves last month!

I got to be the hero when Diary of a Wimpy Kid Old School (Book 10) showed up on our doorstep weeks after her birthday and not just the book.....but a signed copy of the book!

She was so ecstatic that she snatched it immediately and disappeared into her cave to read it. I had to wait until she went to sleep that night to sneak in and grab the book to take a few pictures of it.

The premise of Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Old School:
Life was better in the old days. Or was it?

That’s the question Greg Heffley is asking as his town voluntarily unplugs and goes electronics-free. But modern life has its conveniences, and Greg isn’t cut out for an old-fashioned world.

With tension building inside and outside the Heffley home, will Greg find a way to survive? Or is going “old school” just too hard for a kid like Greg?

Our Thoughts:

As with all the Wimpy Kid books, the biggest draw for Rose is the humor. Some people might find it slightly immature, but it is actually quite hilarious. I have read through parts of these books before and they have me giggling. Rose loves the cartoon stick-figure drawings as well. I know my daughter is in eighth grade and has an advanced reading level, but after spending all day in school reading textbooks and "boring stuff" she loves to come home and unwind with books that capture her attention and give her visual stimulation. She has already read through the book twice now and it happily sits on her bookshelf next to the other nine books and she is patiently waiting an additions to the series!

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Old School by Jeff Kinney is available at major retailers and bookstores nationwide in addition to online at Amazon. The book is 224 pages in length and recommended for grade levels 3-7 (ages 8-12).
