My Amazing Monster Book Series Helps Children Face Fears and Worries by Making Them Disappear! #MyAmazingMonster

My husband and I had the pleasure of attending the Chicago Toy and Game Fair (ChiTAG) this past November. We both had a chance to check out new toys, games, activity kits and more in an up-close, hands-on way that you don't normally get to experience. Plus we were lucky enough to meet some of the owners, creators and even authors of these neat products!

One of my favorite items that touched me personally was the book and plush monster by Beth Cimler called My Amazing Monster. The premise behind Gobble (the Amazing Monster) is he helps children battle fears whether through illness, bullying or other worries by allowing them to write down those worries/fears, crumple them up and "feed" them to Gobble and then the parents or caregivers can remove them symbolizing the elimination of their fears.

About Gobble:
Gobble is a special monster sent on an “amazing mission” to spark imaginations and to lend a jaw to anyone battling illness. In order to do this, Gobble must be hugged by a very special child and only then will he receive his amazing appetite.

As a child, I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis at a young age. It was a very scary time for me filled with countless doctors, hospitalizations, invasive procedures, medications and more. When I saw Gobble at the Toy fair I immediately thought to myself that I would have really benefited from having him. Just the symbolism alone of writing down your fears and troubles, which I had a lot of them while hospitalized on and off for four years, and then it being eliminated or removed is a powerful message to your mind.

My Amazing Monster is such a special book series with it's main character Gobble. There are currently two books available featuring Gobble - My Amazing Monster Goes to the Hospital and My Amazing Monster Meets the Bully. Both of these books (and plush) are available on the My Amazing Monster website.

I love that Gobble the monster was a special idea close to the author, Beth Cimler's heart. When her father was in the hospital battling heart disease years ago, she gave him a Monster to help fight off his illness but bringing joy and laughter to her father and those around him.

Gobble and the My Amazing Monster book series are truly heart-warming and perfect for any child (and even adults) who are battling illnesses, bullies or tough times in their life. Feed Gobble your worries and they will disappear!
