Amazon Prime has always required an annual payment to access its many benefits such as Prime Music, Instant Video, Prime Pantry, Prime Photos, Prime Early Access, Membership Sharing and more; but if a year-long commitment scares you, Amazon has finally made it easier.

Amazon has introduced two new monthly tiers for it's Prime service. For $8.99, you can get access to just Amazon Prime Video (directly competing with Netflix since currently new Netflix subscribers pay $9.99). You can pay $10.99 for access to (nearly) every benefit of Amazon Prime, including free two-day shipping, one-day shipping in some areas, music streaming, and other perks. Both of these options are more expensive than the annual prepaid membership though.
  • The $8.99 monthly plan would cost approximately $108 over a year ($9 more than the annual plan with fewer features).
  •  The full $10.99 monthly plan would end up costing $132 over a year ($33 more than the annual plan with less features).

While these options may be great for those who don’t want to keep Amazon Prime all year, keep in mind that if you keep your monthly plan for a year, you’re essentially throwing money away. One suggestion - maybe signing up just for the holiday shopping season would be a good idea for your household if you only use Amazon certain times during the year.

Don't forget you can get a 30 day FREE TRIAL to Amazon Prime so you can see if it's worth the money. I know we order a lot on Amazon plus we have purchased instant videos to watch too on family movie night so I know this would be beneficial to us to try for a month and see how much we save!!
