Lianne Moriarty’s book Big Little Lies was turned into a seven-episode limited series that aired on HBO after being adapted for the screen by David E. Kelley. Series One Synopsis:

This seven-episode limited series is set in the wealthy town of Monterey. When a body is found, the cops have to dig into the lives of everyone involved. This tale tells the story of a group of mothers whose first-grade kids all go to the same public school. Madeline Martha Mackenzie (Reese Witherspoon) is the one to be feared as she is the reigning queen, the one who knows all. She befriends the new mom on the block, Jane Chapman (Shailene Woodley) and introduces her to her best friend Celeste (Nicole Kidman), a beautiful mom of two who is married to a younger man (Alexander Skarsgård).

Our Thoughts:
“Big Little Lies” might appear to come off as a suburban crime show filled with drama and "self-important" housewives at the center of it, but it is more than that. It is filled with substance as it addresses serious issues such as domestic violence, bullying and the struggles of parenting in a world where you are judged so quickly by others on how you do it. I am really looking forward to see what they do with Season Two of this show!

  2. I was so surprised they are doing a season 2, since season 1 covered all of the book. But I bet it is good, as s1 was too.
