Barnes and Noble 2026 Summer Reading Program for Kids (Kids Can Earn Free Books)!!

Looking for a fun way to keep your kids busy this summer and reading at the same time? The Barnes and Noble has a Summer Reading Program for kids that gives kids a free book when they read 8 books over the summer. How cool is that?

This year's 2026 Summer Reading Program is called Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program. You can either visit your local Barnes and Noble's children's section and find the Summer Reading Program display to get a Reading Journal for your child OR you can print one from their site - Reading Journal (English) or Reading Journal (Spanish).

1. Each time you complete two books (one matchup on your journal), bring your journal to your local Barnes & Noble store. You’ll receive an exclusive Summer Reading sticker and create a recommendation slip for your favorite of the two books — your recommendation slip will be displayed in the store!

2. Return after each completed matchup to collect your sticker and share another recommendation. Be sure to check out other kids’ recommendation slips for ideas on what to read next.

3. After completing all four matchups on your journal, you’ll complete your full sticker collection and earn a special Barnes & Noble Champion sticker. Keep your journal so you can look back on all the great books you read this summer.

4. Finally, select a book from the list on the sheet to receive for free (Redeemable 7/1-8/31).

If you weren't already aware, Barnes & Noble has an events calendar on their website for all their locations and it is filled with author appearances, events for kids, events for adults and more! Be sure to check out the events at the location nearest you for fun activities all year round!
