This October, Shout! Factory will release the complete fifth season of one of television’s most romantic and family friendly dramas, When Calls the Heart: Year Five (The Television Movie Collection), in a 6-disc DVD set.

An exclusive offer of the release with all six movies from the show’s fifth season, alongside a devotional book by Brian Bird and Michelle Cox entitled When God Calls the Heart will be on shelves at Walmart on October 2. The standard 6-disc DVD set will be available everywhere nationwide in addition to online at Amazon on October 16.

From celebrated author Janette Oke (The Love Comes Softly series) comes a rigorous and romantic adventure as epic as the wide frontier. Erin Krakow (Army Wives), Daniel Lissing (Eye Candy), Jack Wagner (Melrose Place) and Lori Loughlin (Full House, 90210) star in When Calls The Heart, a beautiful story filled with “many of the values we all hold precious such as love, family, friendship, community, faith and caring about one another” (Military Press)!

Hearties, rejoice! This six-DVD set collects all of the romance and drama from Year Five of the warm and wonderful When Calls The Heart. Return once again to the town of Hope Valley as schoolteacher Elizabeth (Krakow), Mountie Jack (Lissing), Café owner-turned-Mayor Abigail (Loughlin), and all of your favorite characters bravely face the challenges of frontier life … and those of the heart.

Our Thoughts:

There are very few real family oriented shows on TV these days which is why we love this one! Spoiler here: But for those wondering about Jack's character dying, the actor Daniel Lissing chose to leave the show. I am sure the writers/creators thought long and hard about how to write the character of Jack off because he was a beloved character and they decided the best way to deal with it was to honor his character and have him die doing something amazing in the line of duty...because that was who Jack was. While we will miss him terribly, the writers did the best they could for the show. We just have to move on and they have hired new actors to play new and exciting characters and with that being said, we can't wait for season 6. We will miss Jack but he was not the whole show. It is an ensemble cast that work well together to make a fantastic show the entire family can watch together.
