- Rose is not a black belt. The patch was worn with permission to
demonstrate what her dress blues will look like once she tests, passes
and is promoted to black belt in the coming year for the purposes of
this clothing review
As many of you know from posts I have shared over the years, both my husband and daughter Rose study Tang Soo Do martial arts. Rose has been studying it for over 6 years now and this coming Spring she is going to be testing for her 1st degree Black Belt at the age of 13. Once she is officially awarded her Black Belt, she will be required to attend our Tang Soo Do events, tournaments, workshops and more in formal dress blues - navy blazer, navy slacks or skirt (ladies choice).
Knowing this day would be coming I have been looking for where I could find such Dress Blues for Rose in her size. She is 13 but she is very petite and lean (martial arts is an amazing workout - I am jealous of my daughter's muscle tone). I seriously could have kicked myself for not thinking of French Toast's uniform apparel sooner! We have been familiar with French Toast's clothing for many years. Rose attended a public charter school in her elementary grades and the school switched to school uniform attire for the entire school a couple years into her attending so I have purchased French Toast's apparel before at our local department stores. I know I am not the only parent in the situation of having to find formal attire for not only school uniforms but for religious events, scouting groups, sports banquet apparel and other organized events, not to mention all the parents at our karate studio that are currently needing Dress Blues for their kids or will be in the future.
French Toast's website is very easy to navigate and after searching other sites and stores in the past couple years, their prices are very affordable. I was able to put together a complete outfit for her for under $60 which included a navy blazer, white blouse, navy slacks (the navy skirt is comparable in price to the slacks). French Toast also features regular sale promotions plus if you check out their site and share it or sign up for their email newsletter - you get a discount code off your purchase.

| Blazer, Blouse, Slacks combo |
We received a navy blazer, white blouse, navy pleated skirt and navy slacks to review. The clothing is high quality, well-made and machine washable (bonus!). The slacks we selected are actually a "jegging" (jean/legging) and have the appearance of a pair of slacks but are a soft French terry fabric with a comfortable waistline. I really like that the slacks and skirt both have adjustable waistlines which is a must for Rose since she has a tinier waist and the standard sizes tend to be a bit too big for her. Seeing her in the complete Dress Blues outfit combinations was quite amazing - very sophisticated!

French Toast has a wide range of school uniform apparel for boys and girls in sizes ranging from 2T up to 16-20; they also have youth, plus, slim, husky and young women/men's categories. They carry accessories such as ties, belts and undergarments in addition to footwear. You can even shop by your school if your school is listed on their site to help you with the dress code and you even have the ability to put a school logo or crest on your uniform apparel. I highly recommend checking out French Toast's website for all your school uniform needs plus for all your child's extracurricular activity needs when you find your children in need of more formal dress apparel.
