I have really enjoyed that past books that M. Mabie has written - hooked from the first time I read her book Bait and I have re-read them more than once! One Week Stand is very easy read because you literally won't be able to put it down once you start reading it! The characters Julien and Peyton are so fun and full of character and their Spring Break romance is the perfect amount of humor and steaminess! A must-read for sure!

Our Thoughts:

This series just keeps getting better and better as I am on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens next! In Part 5, Tristan actually starts to regain some of his memories and finds that there might be a chance he could recover more, but it could be dangerous. I love seeing Isabel coming into her own as the series progresses as she gains more confidence in herself and I love the two together as a couple. The other characters slowly keep revealing truths that continue to have pieces falling into place and of course...left at the end of this part dying to know what happens next! If you haven't started this series yet, I definitely recommend checking it out!

A cloud of smoke followed the silver-haired woman out the door of the main building onto the covered porch outside, and she shot the butt of her cigarette into the dirt in front of the semi.

“Your mother’s been trying to reach you.”

My phone had died two days earlier, and I’d forgotten to bring a charger. Mom was the only person I still spoke with from Lancaster, but it was rare for her to call me, and I only reached out a few times a year.

“Say what she wanted?” I asked and slid my hands into worn leather gloves.

“Honey, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but your brother passed away last night.”

Ted Grier hung back in the doorway, watching. Both of their faces wore sympathy.

“Pardon?”

“Your brother passed, Abe. You should call her back. Come on in and use the phone.”

I hadn’t spoken to my brother in years, but when I left home with no plans to return, I just assumed things would stay how I left them. They’d cling to their Bibles and bands and keep living in their own warped version of reality. They’d stay tucked under the strict thumb of the Legacies and God, or at least the way they interpreted him, and I’d live my life in the woods, free of their judgment and rules.

Alone and how I liked it.

They lived how they wanted, and I did the same.

I squinted in the mid-day sun, and the tension in my neck pinched even tighter.

“Jacob died?”

Ted limped to the stoop, tapped a Camel from his pack and lit it. “Son, you wanna come inside for a minute? Call your family?”

I did not. Calling them was the last thing I wanted.

It was almost noon, and I still had more than half day’s work to finish. The tobacco in the air was thick as I pulled it into my chest. “I’ll call when I get home.”

It was supposed to rain for the next four days in the hills, and there was work that needed to be done. Calling in the middle of the day wasn’t going to do anything but put me behind, and my brother would still be dead that evening.

Our Thoughts:

I have really enjoyed that past books that M. Mabie has written - hooked from the first one and re-read them more than once! That being said, I really was intrigued and interested in the concept of incorporating a cult into this story and it really is fascinating. Mabie is able to convey the hold this cult has on the town, it's people, etc., all with the use of conversations, body language descriptions and this eerie sense of "perfection." Break My Fall is the first in a trilogy and leaves you with a CLIFFHANGER! It is told by both the perspectives of the main characters - Abe (Abraham) and Myra - which I always love about Mabie's books...being able to see, feel and experience things by the character's perspectives always gives a deeper understanding of them, especially as they grow and evolve. I cannot wait for the second book to come out and to see the unexpected romance unfold.

Our Thoughts:

I have to admit that I am a sucker for vampires. That being said, I was very intrigued with the story the vampire Dante who was taken captive at age 18 and escaped 10 years later trying to find out how he fits in the world, where his family is and even if they are still alive. All with the help of the ER Nurse Erin who first encounters Dante in their blood bank after he escaped. The pull between the two is magnetic. I enjoyed how the story line naturally unfolded and am excited to already have the second part of the saga in my hands to keep reading!

The story continues with Erin and the vampire Dante as he begins to share what happened while he was being held captive as a blood slave for 10 years and revealing his past history about his family. The mysterious bond that is felt between Dante and Erin is revealed in this book (no spoilers here) and WOW! The way the story is retold from Dante's memories reveals why he is so drawn to Erin and the need to protect her. I cannot wait to get my hands on the third installment to see what happens next!

Having read the entire Steel Brothers series from author Helen Hardt, I am said to see it come to an end but I am glad in a way as well. I am happy to see these characters who I have become so attached to finally find some happiness and find the answers they have desperately sought after.

Our Thoughts:
I love Mo Mabie's books. They are full of characters that you instantly connect with or they provoke strong emotions in you. Her books are easy reads so you can sit back, relax and enjoy and once y you step away, you fall right back into the book when you pick it up without trying to figure where you left off. I love that Mo Mabie has dual character point of views which allows you to get into the character's head to see what makes them tick. The couple in this book - Faith and Aaron - are easy to relate to and you will fall in love with them right away in addition to falling for their love story. This story has all the feels!! Well done again Ms. Mabie, well done!

Twisted is the 8th book in the Steel Brother Saga and is not a stand alone book. I have read all 7 prior books and Helen Hardt always leaves you wanting more with a brilliant cliffhanger or plot twist. Twisted continues on the story of the 3 Steel brothers with Ryan at the forefront of this book telling the story from his perspective and then Ruby's perspective, a detective that crosses paths with Ryan and becomes his love interest. Twisted manages once again to leave off with a cliffhanger at the end leaving us desperate for answers! I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book Unraveled when it comes out in February in hopes we get to the bottom of this mystery!

Shattered is the 7th book in the Steel Brother Saga and is not a stand alone book. I have read all the 6 prior books and they have brilliantly left off with a cliffhanger, plot twist or surprise leaving the reader wanting more. Shattered continues on the story of the 3 Steel brothers with Ryan at the forefront of this book telling the story from his perspective and then Ruby's perspective, a detective that crosses paths with Ryan and becomes his love interest. Shattered manages to leave off with 2 "oh my goodness" moments at the end for both Ryan and Ruby....I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book Twisted when it comes out in December.
