Possession (Steel Brothers Saga #3)
By Helen Hardt
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Synopsis:

Jade Roberts’s love for Talon Steel is the real deal, and she’s more determined than ever to help him come to grips with whatever is haunting him. To that end, she continues her investigation of the Steels…and unknowingly attracts some dangerous foes from their shrouded history.

Talon loves Jade deeply and longs to possess her forever, so he faces his worst fears and exposes his rawest wounds in an attempt to heal. The road is icy and treacherous, but if he perseveres and comes out whole on the other side, he’ll finally be worthy of Jade’s love.

The untamed passion between the two still blazes, but as the horrors of Talon’s past resurface, Jade and Talon aren’t safe…

Our Thoughts:
I have previously read Helen Hardt's first two books in this series - Craving and Obsession - and I couldn't put them down. I was very much looking forward to Possession coming out so I could continue reading to see what happened between these two very strong and vibrant characters. You can't help but root for these broken characters to find happiness and peace. Possession didn't disappoint! I do think I startled my husband and I yelled out "Oh My Gosh!" at the cliffhanger at the end - I can't wait for the next book!

KNOT (A Wake Family Novel) by M. Mabie - Now Available! #BookReview @AuthorMMabie

“The featured product was provided free of charge to facilitate my review, but all opinions are 100% the opinion of the Coupon Savvy Sarah family. This post may contain affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.”

M. Mabie is a fantastic author and I am so happy to have discovered her books last year! Her Wake Series blew me away so I was naturally psyched when I caught wind of a spin-off of the Wake Series called KNOT.

The book KNOT is a contemporary romance and a complete standalone book. It is the first spin-off from the best-selling Wake Series. You do not need to read BAIT, SAIL or ANCHOR to enjoy this book in its entirety, but if you love angst you'll enjoy them, too...they are fantastic and it just enriches the characters even more to have a little more background!

KNOT is LIVE!

Excerpt from KNOT by M. Mabie

He knows everything.
She has all the damn answers.

I’ve always been a free spirit. It’s my nature.
I crave control, but with her it’s far more.

He’s a power hungry climber.
Her wealth could buy and sell me.

It’s too much pressure being the center of anyone’s focus.
She underestimates my desire for her, my need to please just her.

When he’s vulnerable, it’s hard to deny him.
Her crooked smile cripples me.

He hides his demons, but I’m no fool.
She thinks not committing to anyone makes her more honest. She’s wrong.

A man like him deserves someone who can offer that kind of love.
She promises nothing, yet I feel like a king when she says my name.

I never let anyone possess me like he did. Not before. Not after.
My greatest regret was compromising. I should have never held back.

Still, when we’re apart I’m not myself.
I miss the days when she was just down the hall.

He’s better off without me, and it hurts.
The ugly truth is I need her more than she needs me.

Our relationship was born out of lust and curiosity.
The lies we told ourselves killed it.

Together, we found Nirvana.
We learned it was all a mirage.

I ruined him.
I broke her heart.

I keep coming back.
I can’t let her go.

Our Thoughts:

First off....even though you don't "need" to before reading KNOT, I do highly suggest binge-reading Bait, Sail and Anchor. They are just fantastic and it gives you a peek into the lead male character Reggie in KNOT. **No Spoilers Here**....but KNOT is a delves into the complex and complicated nature of the relationship between the main characters Reggie and Nora. The biggest obstacle they face is that despite the confidence and even bossiness of their personalities, they both question having and making a relationship work because they don't feel they can be enough for the other person. This is solely based on what they feel the other person wants...assumptions. Trust me, I have done it before in my marriage and I know my husband has as well - we are all guilty of it. Thankfully we have learned that little thing called communication! This book will pull at your heart, your mind - it will frustrate you and make you want to smack a character or two around - but it is a love story in which couples like myself, who face real issues (not automatic "fairy tale happily ever after stuff" - we make our happy ever after!), can appreciate the honestly and frankness.

Barnes and Noble Summer Reading Program for Kids (Kids Can Earn Free Books)!!

Looking for a fun way to keep your kids busy this summer and reading at the same time? The Barnes and Noble has a Summer Reading Program for kids that gives kids a free book when they read 8 books over the summer. How cool is that?

This year's 2016 Summer Reading Program is called Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Triathlon. You can either visit your local Barnes and Noble's children's section and find the Summer Reading Program display to get a Reading Journal for your child OR you can print one from their site - Reading Journal (English) or Reading Journal (Spanish)

Once you have the Reading Journal, fill out the student information on the first page of the journal. A parent must sign on this page in order for the child to get a free book.

In the reading log, your child will need to pick 3 of the 4 triathlon events to get their free book. They can choose to answer the following questions:
  1. What book made you read faster than ever before?
  2. What is the longest book you've ever read?
  3. In which series have you read the most books?
  4. What book made you stretch your imagination the most?
For the ones that they choose, they'll need to complete the title and author of the book.

To get your child's free book, just bring the completed and signed Reading Journal into your local Barnes and Noble book store between May 17, 2016 and September 6, 2016. Present it to an employee and they will let your child choose a book from the free book list. You can also head back to the Children's Section and find the display with the books and have your child select one from their eligible grade category and then take it to the register with your completed journal (this is typically what we have done in the past).

Little Gestalten Children's Picture Books Review and Giveaway (Ends 5/24)

“The featured product was provided free of charge to facilitate my review, but all opinions are 100% the opinion of the Coupon Savvy Sarah family. This post may contain affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.”

In our household, books are a major part of our lives. We love to read and escape into a good book. I have always enjoyed reading, from the time I was read to as a child to when I was able to read to myself. As parents, we have shown our daughter our love of reading and have had the unique pleasure of reading to Rose in German as well from some of my husband's childhood German story books that his family saved for him. Rose does proclaim from time to time not to like to read, however she is rarely seem without a book in her hand and usually has multiple books she is reading at a time.

I was thrilled to work with the Berlin-based children's book publisher Little Gestalten to review some of their high concept, totally unique picture books. It is very special to me to find not only a unique book for my daughter but one that has ties to her heritage since she is German citizen as well.

We received three books from Little Gestalten to review titled: Let’s Garden, My Body and I Love You Always.

Here is a little more information about each book we received:

Let’s Garden: A Step by Step Introduction (by Clara Lidström and Annakarin Nyberg):

Whether in a big backyard or on a small city balcony, children will have a blast with this do-it-yourself book full of great gardening ideas. No need for sophisticated equipment or a large yard: Let’s Garden is a true DIY book that children can easily follow to take their first steps in gardening. Inspired by their own children’s fascination with everything that sprouts, Clara Lidström and Annakarin Nyberg teamed up to create a book that would encourage others to interact with their surroundings, whether in the countryside or the city. From planting a sunflower in a pot and feeding the birds with leftover seeds to growing your own garlic and using it to flavor homemade cream cheese, Let’s Garden is full of inventive ideas. Step-by-step instructions are presented alongside whimsical illustrations and photographs, inspiring children to get their hands dirty!

My Body: Explained and Illustrated (Illustrations by Golden Section Graphics, texts by Antje Helms):

The human body is astounding. This book explains how our body works in illustrations and texts that are created for children but are also fascinating for adults. Children are curious about their bodies. They not only want to know how they breathe and where their food goes after they swallow it, but are also generally interested in how their bodies look on the inside and everything that happens there. The book My Body takes its readers on a fun and compelling journey through the human body. Exploring how we breathe, where our blood flows, how we digest, our senses, skeleton, muscles, nerves, and brain, it imparts fundamental knowledge in a way that is understandable for children. It also provides fascinating information such as the fact that adults can be taller in the morning than they are at night or that giraffes have the same number of neck bones (seven) as humans do. My Body’s vivid illustrations and engaging texts make the book wonderfully suitable for children. It takes them on an entertaining anatomical adventure that further stimulates their own natural curiosity.

I Love You Always (by Astrid Desbordes and Pauline Martin):

I Love You Always is an ode to motherly love that approaches a timeless topic with elegant simplicity and refreshing honesty. With the simple question “Mom, will you love me my whole life?”, Max sparks the most honest and relatable of answers from his mother, who goes on to tell her son about all the moments in life through which she loves him. “I love you when you behave and when your good behavior doesn’t last” and “I love you when you look your best and when you’re feeling your worst” are some of the scenes author Astrid Desbordes and illustrator Pauline Martin succeed in depicting with heartwarming candidness. A refreshing take on a timeless subject, I Love You Always beautifully recounts a mother’s unconditional love for her child.

I would highly recommend these books from Little Gestalten in addition to their other books. They are visually stunning with their colors and illustrations plus the language used in most of the books is more appealing to myself and young listeners than typical story books. I am actually looking forward to purchasing a couple more of these books for Rose and when she is done with them, I will be packing them up in her hope chest as treasured keepsakes someday for her child (as was done for her father and myself). Little Gestalten Books can be purchased directly on their website or online through Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

You can sign up for Little Gestalten's newsletter to stay up to date on their latest news and releases, plus you can follow them on their social media channels as well - Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.

Nicholas Sparks' The Choice - Available on Blu-ray and DVD May 3rd (Perfect Mother's Day Gift)!

“The featured product was provided free of charge to facilitate my review, but all opinions are 100% the opinion of the Coupon Savvy Sarah family. This post may contain affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.”

I am a huge Nicholas Sparks fans and have been for many years! I didn't get a chance to see this movie in theaters so I am so excited for when it arrives on DVD and Blu-Ray Tuesday, May 3rd. Looking for a last minute gift for Mom this Mother's Day? Check out Nicholas Sparks movie The Choice arriving in time for Mother's Day!

Based on Sparks’ best-selling novel, written for the screen by Bryan Sipe (Demolition), The Choice stars Benjamin Walker (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter), Teresa Palmer (Warm Bodies), Maggie Grace (Taken series), Alexandra Daddario (San Andreas), Tom Welling (TV’s “Smallville”) and Academy Award® nominee Tom Wilkinson (Best Actor, In the Bedroom, 2001), in a touching love story that will make viewers laugh, cry, and wonder how far they would go to keep the hope of love alive.

Travis is a fun-loving, smooth-talking bachelor who’s never considered a serious relationship—until he falls hard for his beautiful new neighbor, Gabby. But when fate threatens Travis and Gabby’s love, Travis must make a choice that will alter their lives forever in this unforgettably moving romance.

Nicholas Sparks' The Choice will be available on Blu-ray and DVD on May 3rd at major retailers nationwide in addition to online at Amazon.

Our Thoughts:
This movie is based off of Nicholas Sparks book - more so inspired by the book because they are not totally the same. I have to admit I liked the movie better than the book. It definitely has a message that can speak to all couples about appreciating your partner and not getting lost in day to day life.

New Book Review: Roots and Wings by M. Mabie (Book #1 in the City Limits Series) @AuthorMMabie

“The featured product was provided free of charge to facilitate my review, but all opinions are 100% the opinion of the Coupon Savvy Sarah family. This post may contain affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.”

I have had the pleasure of reading all of M. Mabie's books to date. I literally get pulled into the book by such amazing and interesting characters and pretty much neglect most of my responsibilities until I am finished with it - sorry family!!

Roots and Wings Book Synopsis:
Welcome to Wynne, population 3,401.

No billionaires. No professional athletes. No celebrities.

In this small town, current events are pondered in mirrors at the local salon or around crowded tables at the diner, and there’s a new couple to gossip about. A rough and tumble woman who works in her dad’s garage, not yet ready to spread her wings, shows the new guy in town what it’s like to finally have roots.

It’s your run-of-the-mill, sexy, Astro van driving dentist meets smart-ass, bass fishing tomboy in a story of real-life romance.

Low on drama. High on love.

Pull up a chair and stay a while.

Our Thoughts:

I think my husband thought I was off my rocker as I poured through this book (well....more so than normal!) as I laughed out loud, wiped tears away and grinned like an idiot. The lead characters, Mutt and Vaughn are so full of depth and spunk. The honesty and them speaking their minds is just so refreshing - they both are learning about each other and lift each other up along the way with reassurances and praise. I want that relationship! It is something I aspire too and work on in my own marriage - speaking my mind and not being afraid of the repercussions. For the record....I am on my third round reading this book because the characters - all of them - are the best and just fill my book soul!! I cannot wait to see what M. Mabie has in store for us in the upcoming City Limit books!!

If you haven't read M. Mabie's previous books, what are you waiting for? She makes you fall in love with her characters and leaves you wanting more!

My Amazing Monster Book Series Helps Children Face Fears and Worries by Making Them Disappear! #MyAmazingMonster

“The featured product was provided free of charge to facilitate my review, but all opinions are 100% the opinion of the Coupon Savvy Sarah family.”

My husband and I had the pleasure of attending the Chicago Toy and Game Fair (ChiTAG) this past November. We both had a chance to check out new toys, games, activity kits and more in an up-close, hands-on way that you don't normally get to experience. Plus we were lucky enough to meet some of the owners, creators and even authors of these neat products!

One of my favorite items that touched me personally was the book and plush monster by Beth Cimler called My Amazing Monster. The premise behind Gobble (the Amazing Monster) is he helps children battle fears whether through illness, bullying or other worries by allowing them to write down those worries/fears, crumple them up and "feed" them to Gobble and then the parents or caregivers can remove them symbolizing the elimination of their fears.

About Gobble:
Gobble is a special monster sent on an “amazing mission” to spark imaginations and to lend a jaw to anyone battling illness. In order to do this, Gobble must be hugged by a very special child and only then will he receive his amazing appetite.

As a child, I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis at a young age. It was a very scary time for me filled with countless doctors, hospitalizations, invasive procedures, medications and more. When I saw Gobble at the Toy fair I immediately thought to myself that I would have really benefited from having him. Just the symbolism alone of writing down your fears and troubles, which I had a lot of them while hospitalized on and off for four years, and then it being eliminated or removed is a powerful message to your mind.

Inside dust jacket of the My Amazing Monster Book

My Amazing Monster is such a special book series with it's main character Gobble. There are currently two books available featuring Gobble - My Amazing Monster Goes to the Hospital and My Amazing Monster Meets the Bully. Both of these books (and plush) are available on the My Amazing Monster website.

I love that Gobble the monster was a special idea close to the author, Beth Cimler's heart. When her father was in the hospital battling heart disease years ago, she gave him a Monster to help fight off his illness but bringing joy and laughter to her father and those around him.

Gobble and the My Amazing Monster book series are truly heart-warming and perfect for any child (and even adults) who are battling illnesses, bullies or tough times in their life. Feed Gobble your worries and they will disappear!
