National Roller Coaster Day - Our Favorite? Rougarou at Cedar Point #BloggingAtCP

Today, August 16th, is National Roller Coaster Day and we are sharing our favorite - The New Rougarou at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio!

Named after a terrifying werewolf-like creature in French folklore, the Rougarou [roo-guh-roo] feeds on screams and lurks in and around the swampy lagoon at the center of the park, shared with other coasters like Iron Dragon and Top Thrill Dragster.

Rougarou’s floorless trains will take riders on an epic journey at speeds reaching 60 mph as theirfeet dangle just inches above the track and the murky waters below. The trains will be manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard, Monthey, Switzerland, the same team behind rides like Raptor and GateKeeper, and will transform the ride experience dramatically while utilizing the structure and track of the former Mantis roller coaster.

The ride begins with a climb to the top of the 145-foot-tall first hill, providing amazing views of the Cedar Point skyline. After reaching the apex, the trains will make a 180-degree turn to the right and plummet 137 feet, at a 52-degree angle, to within inches above the water. Thrill-seekers caught in Rougarou’s grasp will then be flipped upside-down by a 119-foot-tall vertical loop, spun around a 103-foot-tall dive loop, whipped around a highly-banked 360-degree turn and then twisted upside-down again by the world’s only inclined loop on a floorless coaster, angled at a wicked 45 degrees. Just when guests think the ride is over, the steel beast will take them through a 360-degree flat spin, tight and twisty turns and a figure-eight finale.

Ohio Travel - Check out the Newly Renovated Hotel Breakers + Cedar Point #BloggingAtCP

"Disclosure: As a Cedar Point Blogger, I was provided with a complimentary stay at Hotel Breakers and tickets to Cedar Point for my family and I. All opinions within this post are my own."

My family and I love to sneak away for a weekend here and there as our busy schedules allow so we were thrilled to be invited to checkout out the newly renovated Hotel Breakers Hotel in Sandusky, Ohio, which is located with direct access to Cedar Point Amusement Park.

Our daughter Rose (age 12) took these inside photos of Hotel Breakers

We have never stayed at the hotels right near Cedar Point so we were eager to check out Hotel Breakers. Located along the mile-long Cedar Point Beach, Hotel Breakers is the ultimate resort destination.  Along with a new exterior, the modernized hotel will has a new entrance portal, classic interior finishes, newly-furnished and remodeled rooms with LCD TV’s, new furniture, bedding and décor, and many other amenities and offerings.

The outdoor pool deck has been expanded to include a water play area with zero-depth entry, a hot tub plus new deck chairs and umbrellas. There is also a comfortable, social setting inside the five-story rotunda that features a full-service Starbucks and a refreshing Surf Lounge bar with a patio. The popular favorites of TGI Friday’s, Perkins and TOMO Hibachi Grill are available for your dining pleasure. Complimentary Wi-FI and fitness room are also be available...bonus! The rooms were super comfortable and we had a beautiful view of the coasters at Cedar Point in addition to the shores of Lake Erie

Being a guest of the hotel - you get early access to Cedar Point's park. This was a huge benefit to staying at Hotel Breakers because my husband and daughter were able to ride The Rougarou (the newest coaster) before the lines were long! We had so much fun at the park and with being a hotel guest, we were able to leave a couple times during the day to come back to the room, rest and get out of the sun, eat, etc, before heading back for more rides - we loved it. And it was all within walking distance!

If you are looking for some summer fun, be sure to check out Hotel Breakers! They have affordable rates, discounted passes to Cedar Point (plus early access to the park) and the gorgeous shoreline of Lake Erie.  You can place your reservations online at cedarpoint.com/hotelbreakers or by phone at (419) 627-2106. I would also suggest checking out their website for any special offers!
